- Think back to the "Children of War" video from yesterday and Ishmael's own experiences in the memoir so far: what are some factors that made Sherieff or Ishmael prime candidates for being turned into child soldiers?
- What are some of the specific methods and circumstances that begin to transform Ishmael into a killer? How do concepts like dehumanization and desensitization apply?
- Think back to the "Children of War" video from yesterday and Ishmael's own experiences in the memoir so far: what are some factors that made Sherieff or Ishmael prime candidates for being turned into child soldiers?

- Step 2: Once you've downloaded the app, make sure you're on a wifi connection (where your data use will be free) and download (not stream) the video called "The Displaced" to your phone (you'll see the image below).

- Write a concise but complete paragraph: Where does resilience come from?
- Watch: "The Displaced" by Jake Silverstein. A VR story by The New York Times.
- (alternative if you don't have your phone) 360 video for "The Displaced"
- Discuss: what did you find interesting, engaging, or surprising about the video?
- Was it any more or less engaging than reading about the children?
- Read the article and look through its photos. Then write a concise but complete paragraph: what did you learn and find interesting or surprising about the story you chose?
